Foster Homes Needed Urgently by Grateful Dogs Rescue
31-Aug-2010Grateful Dogs Rescue in the San Francisco bay area currently is in need of many new foster homes as the number of dogs we can save is dependent on having a place for them to stay until we can find them a loving home.
Fostering is the first step in giving a dog or puppy a second chance. For many dogs, the process of being kept in an unfamiliar shelter and then going to an unfamiliar home is very traumatic. While in a foster home, they have a chance to feel safe and secure, which will help prepare them for their new forever family.
What is involved in being a foster family?
-
Providing temporary shelter and care for a dog or puppy, which typically ranges from a few weeks to a few months.
-
Transporting the dog/puppy to vet appointments (when you or GDR believes it is necessary).
-
Preparing a short profile of your foster dog. This will help in matching the dog, and also giving the potential adopters an honest description of the pet.
-
Some foster parents bring their dog/puppy to adoption events and talk to potential adopters about their foster dog.
