Grateful Dogs Rescue has a unique connection with San Francisco Animal Care and Control as the only Bay Area rescue group that takes all of its animals from the city shelter, and Grateful Dogs Rescue has been working with SF ACC longer than any other rescue group.

If you have never attended this event, it's a fun-filled afternoon featuring rescue groups, animal welfare groups, pet-related vendors, and demos (the disco dogs are amazing!).  Grateful Dogs Rescue takes our adoptable dogs up on stage to introduce them to the crowd.

The highlight of SF ACC Pet Pride Day is the big Halloween costume contest.  Some of the dog costumes in past years have been so imaginative (Bo-beep and her sheep, the Wizard of Oz team, Cinderella's coach pulled by a Chihuahua -- definitely not store-bought stuff!) that Grateful Dogs Rescue can't wait to see what people have dreamed up this time.

Here is the schedule of events for the day.

About Grateful Dogs Rescue

Grateful Dogs Rescue, a non-profit organization, was founded more than 20 years ago by Michelle Parris, a former SF Animal Care and Control volunteer. She made it her mission to rescue "un-adoptable dogs," (i.e. dogs not made available for adoption because they needed some medical help or some behavioral training). Rather than letting these dogs be euthanized, Grateful Dogs Rescue saves as many as possible by fostering these special-needs dogs until a loving home is found. To learn more about Grateful Dogs Rescue, please visit the website at www.gratefuldogsrescue.org

The Grateful Dogs Rescue adoption procedure is designed to find a good match between the dog and adopter. Our goal is a happy human and happy dog in a "forever home." The adoption procedure includes an application, interview, home inspection, and adoption fee. The adoption fee covers spay/neuter, micro-chip, shots, and other medical care given before the dog is adopted. Adoptions are local, confined to the San Francisco Bay Area.

Foster care is donated by volunteers. If you are interested in offering a temporary home for a foster dog, please contact us by phone or email. Thank you for opening your heart to a Grateful Dog!
