Urgent Fosters

Grateful Dogs Rescue is looking for San Francisco bay area foster homes for the dogs posted below. These dogs URGENTLY need foster homes. They are at risk of euthanization at the San Francisco Animal Care and Control Shelter. The Grateful Dogs Rescue evaluators met these dogs and have evaluations on each. Grateful Dogs Rescue believes that getting them out of the shelter and into a loving family will prove that they are very much adoptable! They need temporary foster homes until adopters can be found. You can read more about what is involved in being a foster family here.

Pikachu Is Seeking a Special Foster Home

Pikachu is returning to GDR through no fault of her own, and we are committed to finding her a foster (or foster‑to‑adopt) home that can help her continue to grow and feel safe.

In the home, Pikachu is a sweet, affectionate little dog who loves snuggles, toys, and spending time with her people. She has lived with other dogs and can be very playful. Her gentle, loving nature shines brightest indoors, where she feels most secure.

Outside, Pikachu becomes overwhelmed. She is leash reactive and will pull and bark when she sees other dogs. Because of this, we are looking for a foster home that can provide structure, patience, and consistency. The ideal home is:

  • Experienced with training or open to learning
  • Willing to work with our trainer to support Pikachu’s leash manners. Grateful Dogs Rescue will hire a trainer for Pikachu.
  • One–two adults who can offer a calm, predictable environment
  • Located in a quieter neighborhood with fewer dogs around

She can be fostered w/another dog or she can be the one and only.

Pikachu doesn’t need perfection — she needs someone who believes in her. With guidance and a patient foster, she will continue to blossom into the loving companion she already is at heart.

Can you help Pikachu?
